TAKEN! OOC PLOTTING    

This is a plotting post to get to know your groups and plot with other players! The info post for March's kidnapping plot may be found HERE. Although threads while in captivity and during the rescues are limited to characters within their own groups, there will be opportunities to thread with other characters, as well!

As far as abductions go, extremists will approach characters in a number of ways: asking for their help, surprise ambushes, etc. For the most part, these attempts will not be out in the open, but it's flexible otherwise. Characters can come up with their own scenarios and plan outside of their groups for kidnapping threads! In the end, they will be knocked out and taken away, with more details to come later. Hostage characters will be tricked or forced to wear a magical object that completely nerfs their powers, and this object cannot be removed.

All characters, including those who did not sign up for a plot role, may still participate in other ways. They may, for example, be witnesses to and fail to prevent another's kidnapping, spread the word around town about the incidents, and provide medical and emotional support to both hostages and rescuers. Everyone will need a bit of cheering up!

We have provided headers for each group for your convenience, but these are not exclusive to only members of that group. You may also make your own toplevel if you prefer.

Peggy Carter is a rescuer and has done this sort of thing before. But since Steve Rogers (AKA love of her life etc etc) as well as a significant chunk of her close CR have all been kidnapped, she's gonna be a lil snippy and a lot determined and laying out strategy, etc etc but keeping a cool, level head all the while. She's also with the Royal Guard if that helps! And she's def investigated the Institute before but that's top secret.

Ozymandias is a rescuer, and completely new to the whole hero business! Having been a king for the majority of his known existence(s), he’ll be more than willing to heap the responsibility on the shoulders of the more experienced members of his group. Not knowing the identity of the hostages, though he does have some CR building with a couple of them, means that Ozymandias will be incredibly calm while not being overly invested in the fate of the hostages. Though, of course… he’d rather they not die. That’d be inconvenient.

ALSO, he’s from the 18th dynasty of Ancient Egypt so he’ll also be comically unfamiliar with technology, though he does know a great deal about magic.

Prior is a hostage and will probably alternate between flipping out and trying to stop other people flipping out and getting themselves hurt because of it. He's fairly used to being abso-fucking-lutely terrified but no less yappy about it. However if you have a character full of bravado who wants to take on the guards then get taken care of while being told what an idiot they are, Prior may be the one for you. He has an easily frayed temper of his own but not quite the stamina to match.

Look, I want trauma bonding and comfort huddles, I'm unashamed.

i'm gonna really flagrantly rip off keely here and add this for our reference, in case anybody wants to cry about puzzles together! HERE is where our submissions are due on the 18th.

The Institute facilitates investigations for the safety of their staff and research, as they suspect there may be extremists in their ranks. The departments that have labs under suspicion are ROBOTICS, POTIONS, and MAGICAL RESEARCH. Characters will discover the following:

1. Researchers must check in before entering labs outside of their specialty, but have free access to rooms within their department. Recently, there has been a series of break-ins, affecting the botany, magical research, and chemistry wings. The chemists seem to have lost more ventilation hoods and gas masks than actual research.

2. The botany department suspects the breach was in their greenhouse, but the only item they've confirmed missing is an uncommon subspecies of noxious nightshade.

3. A team studying a rare breed of liln mention that their specimens have escaped their tank. This was attributed to the inexperience of a lab tech — a recent transfer from another department — but even then it stands out as a bizarrely egregious error. One of his coworkers complains that they should've "brought on the robotics intern instead."

4. The cleaning crew laments how the employees should pick up after themselves, and that the magical research department is especially bad. On the other hand, some of the potion brewers have been a pleasant surprise lately, keeping their workspaces quite tidy.

5. One large robotics lab has been cordoned off due to a contaminant spill. Some mention this is odd, as the staff there rarely works with odious chemicals and is infamously meticulous about safety protocol. The toxin has yet to be identified, but signs point to it being organic rather than lab synthesized. Security protocols have been lifted so those in hazmat suits and rebreathers can enter and exit at will to clean up, though few choose to do so.

(un)fortunately, she's a soldier type that's very fighty and headstrong and will be charging in pretty recklessly, especially because a chunk of her cr has gone missing ala kidnapping, unless tempered by members of the group. :') she's also a softie beneath it all so if you need heads bashed in or a bosom to cry on, she's your girl??

Percy is a rescuer who has also done this kind of thing before. He's pretty new to the game, but he knows a good number of people being kidnapped, so he'll definitely be All In with the rescue efforts...and also be very reckless, stubborn, and angry about everything. It's fine, this is fine. He's a warrior type, so he'll be ready to BUST SOME HEADS except not really maybe because Demigods Aren't Supposed To Hurt Non-Magical People but again. This is fine.

Linneus will be playing one of your hostages, and initially he will be doing his best to behave, be calm, and wait for it all to work out. I'm interested in seeing his composure slip depending on how long and in what manner this plays out, as that would probably push him closer to trying to rebel and find a way to escape. However, as much as he can he will be looking to support and comfort people both out of concern, and as an effort to keep himself distracted. He's happy to take care of others' injuries as much as he can, but has a slight fear of being scarred.

Yona is a hostage and while I'm not sure exactly what they're going to be dealing with, I love pain, so y'know... if you want a buddy for Awful Things, I'm here. I'm 100% here.

As far as how she'll be behaving when they're actually kidnapped, that'll depend a lot on what they're actually facing, but she's not going to just sit quietly or anything. She'll try and help out the other hostages if she can and will... likely make the monumentally unsound decision of mouthing off to their kidnappers, so uh, whoops. We'll see how things go! It'll be a blast. Bonus points if something happens that gets her to make this face.

I'm 100% open to her dying too (actually I kind of want it to happen because I'm awful), so if anyone wants to plot death stuff, hit me up! I'm glad to hash things out here, on plurk at hungriest, or on discord at britt#1723.

Jamie Fraser has been there and done that when it comes to being taken against his will. Basically the British are assholes and being kept locked away under horrible conditions is basically his vacation spot. He was just liberated from a very nasty captive situation back home that has left him fucked in the head. He's most likely to shut down during this little adventure because he learned it's how you cope. He might tell you to do the same thing. He's also here with his wife. This is basically their version of date night back home so let's have fun.

CRASHES IN hi hello here's yet another hostage, he's like 6'3 of sass. He's very Not Happy about this, but on the other hand he's lowkey like... he's how many hundreds of years old and this is the first time he's been kidnapped? ridiculous.

anyway he's mouthy af, full of shitty jokes, and totally fearless despite not being immortal anymore-- he'd really like not to die, but the things he's actually afraid of aren't really things they can do to him so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . he will absolutely be looking for ways to escape, plotting the demise of their captors, and generally giving them shit. it wouldn't be totally surprising for him to take the brunt of their tempers on account of mouthing off and drawing attention to himself. altruism or just bad at reading the room? you decide.

Sandra's finally been upgraded from stolen object to hostage, she really appreciates the inclusiveness. Since she really can't move in the first place and she's got her mind powers nerfed, expect a whole lot of bitching at the kidnappers and the sweet sweet sound of sharp objects being grated on glass when they get sick of her lip. Torture is more fun if you share it with new friends.

That being said, she has no desire to cooperate but she will shut up if they begin threatening hostages other than her, she isn't a dick. She will be more than happy to distract them into trying to break her for as long as possible, though. If only they could...

Justice | Rescuer

Justice does not like this one bit. He is blunt and socially awkward, so he's the wrong person to ask for soft interrogations, but he will be very focused on the investigation and dealing with injustice like this is very much his wheelhouse.

That said, he doesn't make a secret of the fact that he's not human, though it's possible others won't realize it if they don't ask him. He will not stop this investigation to eat or sleep regardless of how long it takes, so anyone who's paying attention will probably notice soon enough that he doesn't need to do either. He will try to figure things out by listening to thoughts or reading objects, but the thoughts will be 'too quiet' and the objects he reads will be too crowded by other people's memories for him to get anything more than our existing OOC info.

And as a note on location guessing, I'm personally leaning towards the Sanctuary. What are your guys' thoughts?
