TAKEN! OOC PLOTTING    

This is a plotting post to get to know your groups and plot with other players! The info post for March's kidnapping plot may be found HERE. Although threads while in captivity and during the rescues are limited to characters within their own groups, there will be opportunities to thread with other characters, as well!

As far as abductions go, extremists will approach characters in a number of ways: asking for their help, surprise ambushes, etc. For the most part, these attempts will not be out in the open, but it's flexible otherwise. Characters can come up with their own scenarios and plan outside of their groups for kidnapping threads! In the end, they will be knocked out and taken away, with more details to come later. Hostage characters will be tricked or forced to wear a magical object that completely nerfs their powers, and this object cannot be removed.

All characters, including those who did not sign up for a plot role, may still participate in other ways. They may, for example, be witnesses to and fail to prevent another's kidnapping, spread the word around town about the incidents, and provide medical and emotional support to both hostages and rescuers. Everyone will need a bit of cheering up!

We have provided headers for each group for your convenience, but these are not exclusive to only members of that group. You may also make your own toplevel if you prefer.

also adding on to this comment that if the clues actually do mean they're being kept in a cold place this boy is going to be miserable because he hates the cold. let's bond over hating the cold.

and also that he is not the type of person to kick and scream like apparently many of his hostage buddies are. he's more the type to try and play it cool and talk his way out of things, because that's where his strengths lie. so if you need someone to attempt to talk out of trouble, he's ya boi ...

Sup guys! Got a Sanzo here working along as one of the "good" Shamans of Volkkra! He's more pissed that they gave him a shitty reputation and inadvertently got him involved in things he can care less about, so now he won't be free of the rest of the country side-eyeing him until he takes care of this hostage situation. So here he comes as a rescuer to save all your asses! After all, the last thing he needs is to be on the run in yet another country.

Howdy friends and fellow Wyver peeps! Probably not as surprising since she's a troublemaker at heart anyway but Isabela is a hostage during this event! She will 1000% be pissed at somehow getting caught off guard by people she's been wary of recently, so anyone else in the 'we got kidnapped' camp feel free to commiserate with her over how ridiculous the situation is to happen at all. I'm sure she'll at least try to brainstorm unsuccessful escape plans, or rant about how the whole city has gone mad, or potentially anything since being held against her will is going to drive her up the wall and leave her incredibly stressed out.

and probably leave her to drink as a means of soothing her wounds when it's all over, and everyone stuck with her/saving her is welcome to join her

ROCKET IS A HOSTAGE, which he will love. Oh boy, oh boy. He'll only be partially grateful he's been taken by Wyver extremists and not Olympian extremists, but not all that much since... he's still really pressed about the chimera.

He's liable to try and break free at any available opportunity, which will super, super not work, and without knowing how they're likely to proceed with the torture, I can't really say what state he's gonna be in (some things will bother him more than other things).

BUT FOR THE MOST PART... definitely expect him, up until he can't anymore, to brutally sass and try to get a rise out of his tormentors, because he'd rather die than get tortured extensively. It might be wise to try and discourage that.

eyyyy group five!! dutch usually gets to be the rescuer, so this time around, she'll be HOSTAGE. i am here for her attempting to escape, attempting to fight her kidnappers, getting tortured physically and mentally and maybe also magically pls and thank and being generally fucked up by the time rescue happens

YO YA'LL.. Duo here is a hostage and is definitely going to be one that's gonna be lashing out on the regular when he gets the chance. Being a former ('former') terrorist and a Gundam pilot he's been through this whole capture and torture thing before and has absolute 0 intention of letting it go down without a fight. This'll probably mean that he gets pretty busted up / tortured for spitting in people's faces and etc because he is an animal in general.

He carries a lot of tools for escaping/lock picking/etc but definitely check before anyone starts rifling for tools in his hair. ;)

Thankfully the Shamans probably don't have access to closing an airlock to try suffocation (has been attempted on him before) - but he's gonna be pissed if they're in the cold/definitely suggesting piling together for warmth.

If anyone wants any kind of fall out plotting also definitely let me know! Expect him to be very revenge driven depending on what happens to him inside / not really the Duo anyone outside of Heero Yuy would recognize off the bat as a result.

If they are really kept in the cold, Riku will be very much for huddling together because he can't stand the cold either. He is also very much for any attempt to flee because really who even knows that rescue will find them.

Heiho, Riku here is one of the hostages and will fight tooth and nail whenever there is a chance for it, because it's already embarrassing enough that they got the drop on him, he doesn't need to be rescued on top of that. Also, since he's been a shaman-in-training at the Altar for about two months and some change, he is bound to recognize some of their kidnappers at least by looks – he isn't going to be Impressed At All.

He'll also be miserable if they really are being kept in the cold, because you can take a boy off the Island but you can't take the Island out of the boy. So yea, fellow hostages feel free to hit me here, or at plurk (iceyly)! 8D

Hello!! Terra's a rescuer, let's plot here or feel free to add me on plurk ipqi for plotting!

Location Guessing

Our three possible locations are: A CAVE NEAR THE PEAK OF NAMARAK MOUNTAIN, WITHIN THE ALTAR OF VOLKKRA MAZE, and A CAVE INSIDE DRAGON COVE

And the intel our characters find:
1. They will find the remnants of a note left behind by a fleeing rogue shaman. There isn't much left of it, and it was presumably burned to get rid of evidence. Most of the note is lost or illegible, except for the partial phrase "de in plain s"

2. By asking around to various shopkeepers, characters will learn that a prolific animal hunter in Wyver reported that before the kidnapping incidents, a small group of shamans came to his shop and bought out all of his warmest furs.

3. The remaining shamans at the Altar of Volkkra have reported that a large number of their torches were taken all at once. They, of course, claim innocence, and do not want to be associated with their criminal brethren.

4. Four of the shamans have recently been rescued from near-death after coming down with hypothermia. This is a rare affliction for the order.

5. Authorities believe that given the nature of those who choose to work as shamans, at least one group of rogue shamans "likely didn't wander off too far".

Sanzo is of personal thought to believe that the location would be within the Altar of Volkkras mazes. Working as one of the Shamans he knows that it is the Shamans absolute favorite place to stow away because it is so easy to get lost within them if you don't know them well enough. The note: "de in plain s" looks to be "Hide in plain sight", which would accompany the thought that the authorities gave with how they don't like to wander. The torches were also probably taken to both light the way through the mazes which are usually fairly dark, as well as make it harder for those in the mazes to look around.

The hypothermia could be a red herring or caused by something the Shamans are working on, they have been experimenting quite a bit after all.

Prompto is more likely to take these clues at face value and will lean towards the Namarak Mountain cave rather than some place within the Altar of Volkkra itself. Since the Altar is already on the mountain and the shamans are used to chilling (heh) out up there, he wouldn't expect the shamans to catch hypothermia from being somewhere they're already used to being all the time. He'll also assume they were buying furs and gathering torches to go make nefarious plans in spoopy caves, and it follows easily enough that "hide in plain sight" could refer to a cave close to the temple.

But he's also easily swayed and will go with whatever the group thinks best, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ he is not great at making decisions...

Terra's not a suspicious guy in the slightest and so will also take the intel at face value (warm furs, torches can provide some warmth and light, shamans rescued with hypothermia, etc) and guess/vote for checking out the cave at Namarak Mountain.

And then just cross his fingers the shamans aren't trying to mislead them one way or another.

Mantis, unfortunately, is not one to take a clear lead in location guessing. She's more likely to take the clues at face value and initially think of Namarak, but if she hears the reasoning for the Altar of Volkkra maze (as outlined by Sanzo) she'd likely lean in that direction.

But she'd be a "whatever the group thinks is best" type.

If it falls to Sid to be the tiebreaker, I think he'll go with the reasoning for the Altar of Volkkra maze. If they're hiding, they've got a huge maze to hide in, of which they probably have the damn thing memorized by now. And who's to say the hypothermia didn't come from ice-breathing chimeras or something?

Hey everyone! I've got Solas here as a Hostage so he'll be going on an adventure to aspire to be the absolute worst hostage ever. I imagine he'll be critiquing their kidnappers the entire time and just being a crotchety old man overall.

I also imagine he got bagged by getting ticked into healing someone if anyone wants to attempt to help him with that, or get kidnapped with him even.

Hey group! Mantis is a rescuer this time out - she may not look like much and will probably fail a little in her rescue attempts but woe be to those who end up within arm's reach.
