Hello everyone!

We understand that there has been a lengthy period of radio silence from us that has caused some confusion regarding the state of the game, and we would like to thank you all for bearing with us. We truly appreciate everyone in this game that has continued to participate and play in this world that we've created, despite all the bumps in the road that we have encountered along the way.

Earlier this year, we announced June would mark the endgame for El Nysa, and that the game would thereafter be left open as a sandbox for players to use as they please. However, as we're sure many of you have been able to sense, it seems unlikely that we will be able to continue the plot until June. There are a variety of reasons for this, primarily the dwindling size of our modteam, which has put an undue burden on the remaining mods as we're less able to manage and delegate our duties, particularly when some members of our team become unavailable due to real life events. As such, while we would very much like to give the game the conclusion that this playerbase deserves, we no longer believe this is possible.

Essentially, this means that what we had hoped would be a transition to becoming a sandbox in June will instead be taking place effective immediately. We apologize for bringing this news forward so abruptly, but as we were meant to have a TDM and app round this month, we have decided that it would be better to address the state of the game sooner rather than later. As such, following this modpost membership to the communities will be made open for anyone that should like to participate in the El Nysa as a sandbox.

Again, we would like to apologize for not delivering the conclusion as promised, as it is genuinely something we hoped to see through. It has been a difficult decision to make, which is why it's taken us so long to finally issue this update.

Finally, we would like to thank all of the players, new and old, for making this game what is, and for allowing us to share this story with you. We hope that it was as enjoyable for all of you as it was for us, and we hope that your stories continue on, wherever it may be.

Thank you,
El Nysa Mods

Happy New Year everyone!

We are excited to roll out a new State of the Game to touch base with you all. First and foremost, thank you so much for sticking with us as the structure of the game transitioned. It wasn't the smoothest change, but we are happy with the trajectory we've found and look forward to continuing to increase the amount of influence characters can have over the world of Nysa. This is not to say we are introducing a sandbox. Much to the contrary, we will be soon launching a plot we estimate will span several months. In this plot, we anticipate providing more opportunities for NPC interaction, lasting repercussions, and character-directed plot.

The plot will center around the concept of jumping back in time to adjust and rectify the mistakes made from the past — but not just any one, the ones made by Darma. As the story unfolds, players will have an idea of what had caused the approaching Storm and how they might be able to fix it.

Which brings us to the end result. We expect this plot to run until about June, at which time we will move into endgame. As such, the last app round will be in March, with frequent opportunities for old players to join along the way through a special reapp request (assuming that the character isn't already taken by someone else in the game). With the conclusion of the game's overarching plot, El Nysa will be converted into a sandbox so that everyone who wishes can still maintain the CR and the world they've built for their characters.

Due to the intensive, ambitious nature of the plot leading up to this point, we are looking to take on a few additional moderators. Responsibilities would include plotting, composing event posts, and potentially running an NPC or two. Please contact us for more information and to apply if you're interested!

Lastly, on a housekeeping note, we would like to announce a change in our Activity rules. If you miss a check-in for some reason, you will NOT be immediately swept from the game. Instead, provided you contact the mods, you will be given your one allotted strike and remain in the game. This failsafe may only be used once.

Thank you so much for reading this far! If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or critique, we would absolutely love to hear it! Feel free to contact us on this post, if you would like to open your thoughts to wider discussion. You may also use the mod contact post, or send us a PM.

Hello again, El Nysa!

Thank you for your patience as we continue to reevaluate how to move forward with the game. Thanks to your input in our previous modpost, we were able to decide on a few things that will hopefully make your experience better in future events. First, we would like to announce upcoming dates relevant to you and potential players:
Fri, 08/24: Enable Me/App This Plz
Sun, 08/26: Test Drive Meme
Tues, 08/28 to Fri 08/31 11:59pm EST: Activity Check
Sun, 09/02 12:01am EST: Applications Open
Tues, 09/04 11:59pm EST: Applications Close
Thu, 09/06: CR Meme + September Outline
Sun, 09/09: September Intro/Event
The calendar has been updated to reflect these changes.

You may notice that the application period has been shortened to 72 hours. This hopefully comes as a solution to the problem of events being mid-month. In the past, we had the application period span for five days, which meant a full week of waiting to get to the CR Meme, which in turn delayed when the intro events went up. By shortening the application period, we will be able to put the intro events up sooner and give us more time to start on the following month's event.

We know it's not a perfect solution, but we hope that this will help in providing more time to play in an event by making them closer to the beginning of the month, rather than the middle.

For potential appers, we have slightly tweaked some wording on the Application page to reflect some recent changes. These changes include: Natha being no longer around, but your characters may still vaguely remember making a deal with someone in a dream. Additionally, we now require two log-style prompts that demonstrate your character's voice for players submitting their TDM top level as their application. For characters submitting threads as their samples, a mix of text and log tags are acceptable, however we will ask for a revision if one of the samples is mostly dialogue or in text form. If you have any questions, feel free to hit us up either here, our FAQ, or Modbox!

Speaking of the FAQ, the page has been updated to reflect many changes that we have failed to post. We will continue to rework the page and hopefully catch up with everything in due time!

Additionally, we've had an understandably shaky response to monthly outlines in the past. Through a lot of feedback and reflection, we now have an understanding of how to improve them. We’ve concluded there was too much time between the outline and the events themselves, and that the outline was at times too vague to properly plan. To rectify this, we will be combining the CR meme and monthly outlines to give players a better idea of what kind of CR they're looking for in conjunction with an upcoming event. Our hope is that this tightening of the schedule will help keep momentum going instead of keeping players in limbo as we prepare the next event.

Moving on, to belatedly celebrate our one-year anniversary, we decided that players are only required to do half AC this period. What this means is that you will only have to turn in one proof as opposed to two this month. Because this summer has been pretty busy for all of us, we hope this will also lessen your load for the summer, even if just a little!

Finally, we have had some requests for a summary of the game. This has been a long-term project of ours and has only been hindered by summer business. Rest assured, we are still working on it, and hopefully we will be able to get it up before long! On that note, we're also working on the details of our next batch of quests. Due to a number of reasons, they will not be as complex as they were in the past, but quests will debut once again mid-late September and will be a way for players to gain REP outside of events. Please look out for that!

All in all, as we've said before, there is still much for us to work and improve on, and we hope that these changes will be a step in the right direction. As always, we welcome criticism and feedback, so please always feel free to come to us privately, publicly, or whatever is most comfortable for you! Thank you for taking your time to play in our game! We'll see you next in the EMP/ATP!

Happy Anniversary, El Nysa! July 15th marked one year since our opening, and it's shocking how quickly time has passed. We would like to thank every player, old and new, that has stuck with and supported us through our one-year anniversary! We appreciate all the energy and excitement you bring to the game, as that excitement brings our game to life. Our players are important to us, and as such, we feel we owe all a state of the game address, as we realize they have grown more infrequent in the last few months.

When we started this game, we had doubts that it would ever make it past the test drive, but the player response and enthusiasm revved our motivation to keep it going through thick and thin. We admit that it hasn’t always been smooth sailing. Even now, we continue to struggle with pacing and plot that suits both the volume of players and characters, as well as our mod workload. It has been a consistent issue and even now we aren't entirely sure we've ever been able to get close to solving these problems without compromising mod availability. We realize how much it has inconvenienced you as a playerbase, and we apologize.

We do try our best to provide engaging plots and events. Admittedly, it doesn't always work out, but we genuinely try to improve with each event. We are always open to listen to concerns and hope that players will continue to come forward with ideas of their own, as well as present their own player-run event opportunities during downtime. In the future, we hope to better communicate that we love and encourage player-run events and would like to offer assistance in any way we can!

Moving forward, with the upcoming conclusion of the Dragon's Revival plot, El Nysa will become less plot-heavy and more open world, which has been our intention for a while. In the past, we tried to push a narrative that didn't take with characters in-game for very valid reasons, and we want to be able to step back from that and reevaluate how to better approach events. Mod event logs will still occur regularly, but players will have more freedom to move and do whatever they wish as opposed to following a rigid storyline.

Additionally, CR memes will no longer just be limited to app cycles, and will instead be a monthly occurrence.

Lastly, we would like to issue a formal apology in regards to the delays with quests and quest rewards. Unfortunately, the mods that were previously in charge of this aspect of the game have stepped down, so quests will remain closed indefinitely as we reevaluate how to better sustain them. However, we will still be issuing any outstanding rewards! In the future, we expect quests to be more focused on the ongoings of event logs, more related to rep, and less NPC dependent.

Overall, there's still a lot we need to work on, but we appreciate the feedback we've received and will continue to do our best. Lastly, we would like to open up this post to your feedback and discussion about the game as a whole. Without your input, we cannot move forward and improve, so please offer any suggestions you feel would benefit the game! It can be in the comments or anonymously through our mod contact page.

Thank you all again for supporting us. We could not have done it without you! Please enjoy the rest of your week, and Happy One-Year Anniversary!

Please note that we have decided to change the new canon waiting period from two (2) months to one (1) month - now, new canons need to only have been released one month prior to the application period before characters from them can be apped.

This change is in effect for the current app round. FAQs will be updated to reflect these changes. We apologize that the decision wasn't reached sooner.

Hello El Nysans! Just a quick update regarding quests:

Due to the delay in quest information and upcoming plot, there will be no scheduled quests in June. To make up for this, we will be extending all deadlines to May 31st. After this date, characters will find that Cree and Voss are ICly unavailable — they will be missing, and all updates in their respective establishments will cease. Perhaps they're vacationing in Flona Cove? One can hope.

Come June, we will be posting a mysterious message on the network hinting at some upcoming changes in both location and direction on the date of the 14th. The quest board will return in August, and we hope you have fun with what will be in its place.

Cheers,
El Nysa Mods

A NOTE ON MAX REP: We were recently asked whether or not Reputation for any faction can go over 10 — yes, we do plan on having higher rep tier rewards! We realize this wasn't clear, so for characters that did not submit rep this month expecting that they were capped, we will accept late submissions for the January TDM's (2) Natha rep. ACP requests for this month will continue to be processed over the next several days, but are due by March 4th, so be sure to get your points in soon!

If you have any questions, please refer to the thread below. Thank you!

Hello Nysans! We just wanted to take this opportunity to make a few announcements about some upcoming game events this month.

Event Submissions —

This is just a reminder that event submissions from the February intro log are due tonight by 11:59 PM EST. Players can submit their threads under the appropriate subheading here.

As a reminder, submitted threads do not have to be AC length, but the events described must have been threaded out. (i.e. If you submit a thread under Killing Vultures the actual killing of a vulture must have occurred in the thread by the time of the submission.)

Looking Ahead —

The next event log will be posted on February 21st. As a teaser, this event will build on the events which took place in this month's intro log. (So get those event submissions in if you haven't already!) Players can expect the relationship between Olympia and Wyver to continue to sour as the hostility toward "outsiders" in each city continues to grow, and travel between the two grows increasingly difficult.

Additionally, there will be another modpost going up on March 2nd which will contain an outline for the month, as well sign ups for a plot event taking place on March 9th. While the event will have multiple avenues for player actions to influence the outcome, the signup portion of the event will be time-sensitive and may involve serious/dangerous consequences for characters who sign up. Additionally, certain slots will be limited and selected at random from the pool of characters who sign up. Please keep this in mind when you are deciding whether or not to sign up.

Applications —

After some discussion, the team decided that we will be rescheduling our application cycle after our April app round! Due to the game moving into a major plot arc, we will be redirecting attention from intro logs to events with conflict that all characters will have to resolve, the outcome of which will be directly determined by player actions. To reiterate, we will still be opening apps in April, but that will be the last app round until the plot arc concludes. The arc is expected to last approximately three months, meaning that apps will be opening again in July instead of June.

Quest System Update —

Unaffiliated quest submission deadlines have been adjusted to give questers more time. Quest submissions are now due on March 19 rather than the end of the month. We do encourage quest threading proactively, as some quest results can impact overall plot events!

In addition, in order to cohere with the upcoming plot, details for Blinded with Science (2) will be given later in the week. From an IC standpoint, all characters will be given group-specific details, as they will be working on different parts of the same whole for this quest. After submitting a projected outcome, a choice will be offered to characters based on what they do. Thank you for your patience, questers!

Also at this time, we are closing sign ups for A Day in the Life (2) and To Kill a Mocking Bird. If you/your quest group finds yourself unable to complete a limited slots quest on time, please let us know so that we can pass the baton to another group! Should slots become available for these quests, sign ups will be first come, first served.

Once again, as we implement our bi-monthly schedule, the next quest update will be in April! We're adjusting our quest system to be more efficient after seeing what's worked and hasn't worked for us so far, so expect rules and guidelines for quest signups to look different next time. We apologize for our lateness and we'll be striving to make quests a better experience in the future!

This concludes our mod address! If you have any questions or concerns, please use the questions thread below, or drop a line on our modbox. Thank you!
