( april update - invitations & commendations )

With the chaos of the past few weeks left behind, royal couriers are sent throughout both cities, delivering letters along with small packages directly to the hands of — and only to the hands of — the characters involved in the recent kidnappings and rescues.

YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED...

to the first assembly of the

Coalition of Refugees

April 21st, Southern Outpost

Having proven their great spirit and worth, we wish to to uplift the voices of our refugees. Too long have we let these voices go unheard, to our cities' detriment. Today, we are proud to announce the formation of a great Coalition, a joining of voices, old and new. We therefore extend this invitation to you, honored citizen, in the hopes that you will lend your experience to the betterment of our two cities with the voice we offer you in matters of their governance.

Invitees are permitted to bring guests to this momentous occasion, but those you bring with you are your responsibility. Bring only those whose honor you will personally vouch for.

Along with the invitation, each package contains a gold piece and a small token from Olympia or Wyver, serving as a commendation of their bravery and loyalty to the cities during the recent kidnapping crisis, along with a personal note from the respective city's ruler.
IN OLYMPIA
That is quite enough of that, don't you agree? Those gormless fools who thought to take you all shan't find safe harbor in Olympia again. You, on the other hand... You have suffered much for the sake of our city and our people, and fought valiantly to return the victims of this senseless scheming safely home. We are proud to call you Olympians. From the bottoms of our hearts, we thank you and we honor you.

Characters who were in Olympia during the event will receive a golden brooch, enchanted to conjure a pearlescent magical shield. The cloak clasp's spell will only last for one charge, but it will protect from any attack, magical or physical, no matter how strong.

IN WYVER
Hah! Kidnap our people, will they? It looks like you all taught them a lesson that they won't soon forget. You have all proven yourselves as Wyverns, through and through. Refugees? Bah. You may have come from elsewhere, but we are glad to call you ours. Your strength and bravery in the face of adversity is an inspiration to us all.

Those who were in Wyver will receive an iron ring bespelled with the essence of a dragon's protective scales. Like the brooch, it will only protect from a single attack before the spell is spent, but the wearer will find their body transformed, sprouting scales, their skin briefly impenetrable.

CELEBRATION
Even after these tokens' spells have been spent, wearing them will still confer great benefits while out and about in their respective cities. Bearing one is the symbol of a great hero, and entitles its wearer to the best medical care from each city's royal physicians, free of charge. Walking through the streets wearing a royal medal or ring elicits cheers, with businesses eager to usher you inside and offer a sample; merely having such a hero patronizing any establishment is an honor and sure to bring a rush of sales through the door.

It may be difficult to walk unharried through the streets, with everyone eager to catch a glimpse of the cities' new heroes and to offer their own tokens of thanks: flowers, hand-knit garments, home baked treats, and even, in Wyver, a fresh-caught kill. Even the Royal Guard and the Knightryders might be inclined to look the other way if they see someone wearing a royal token; if you find yourself in a spot of trouble, you might be lucky enough to get off with only a slap on the wrist rather than suffering a cold night in jail.

Enjoy your newfound fame, heroes!

How will having the ring effect someone who's been considered a problem in the recent past. In previous months, I've been playing it that Reinhardt's outspoken nature as to the treatment of Olympians/Refugees/people who don't want war has earned him little affection in some places. As was indicated in the past, certain businesses/individuals treated him unfairly for his defense of there chosen enemies as this animosity has been going on for some months.

Would this treatment still hold true?

Additionally would he be able to use his new hero status to levy aide for those that might still be out in the Wilds because they left to avoid the poor treatment/coming conflict?

Are the letters delivered to folks both in Olympia and Wyver exactly the same, as pictured? And is there any included information about what the tokens do?

Not a question, but Peggy Carter was missed from the 'In Olympia' list.

does the shielding magic on the brooch only work for the wearer, or can they cast the shield on/for someone else?

Hey mods! Not a question, but I think Prompto's event submission might have been missed. It's over here.

I hate to be That Guy, but if someone is a grumpy horse who really doesn't want to be recognized for all this (basically, dying) and attempted to either throw the courier out (possibly with violence) or throw it away in their presence, what would happen?

Does the party have to be wearing it for it to be effective? Like, if Jess kept the ring in her pocket, would it still be effective in keeping her safe, or does she/someone have to be wearing it for it to be 'on'?

Late, and Linneus would be careful about this but since it came up - what would the reaction be to a token from one faction being worn in another? The Olympia brooch in Wyver, for example - would the wearer be just left alone with people knowing what the token represents, or would it be cause for discrimination, being a clear indication of Olympia?

Understandably the all-out hero-worship isn't going to be universal...!
