In the next event, characters will have to deal with the radicals' conflict as it comes to a head, and will be faced in a showdown with what should be a long extinct dragon. This post is to help plot in preparation for the next events, and what characters can expect the setting to be like until then!
ONE FINAL TAUNT ![]() In the wake of the news of Ysverai's stolen heart spreading across Olympia and Wyver, citizens will wake one morning to find flyers strewn across both cities, lining the streets and pasted over works of art. On one side of the fliers is an image of a city in ruin, so vast and broken that it seems unrecognizable as part of El Nysa. (Though in the background, just barely visible, is a rock face that seems startlingly similar to that of the Edrathe Ruins.) On the other side of the flyer is a simple message: HE SHALL RISE AGAIN! Some of Olympia's citizens are quick to point fingers at Wyver as the obvious culprit behind these schemes, but it seems Rasyc, the estranged son of King Shanrian, is behind the recent convoy ambush and the fliers, and Wyver claims neither to support nor know his whereabouts and intentions now. The tenuous peace between the two cities threatens to fizzle before it has a chance to flourish, and Khalo is the first to sense a rift in relations, already anxious from years of having kept its village borders closed to outsiders. But the more level-headed sort might notice that the timing of this banditry seems calculated -- as the radicals had tried once to sow unrest, this may well be an effort to drive a wedge between Olympia and Wyver before diplomatic and Coalition efforts can take hold. Thesa Station — Characters can occasionally hear static over their devices, white noise screeching through the speakers for no rhyme or reason. Those that return to Thesa Station to investigate will be greeted to blaring alarms, but the Natha themselves are nowhere to be found. Those that can tune out the noise and traverse the Station can still visit the hangars and VR simulators, which are all set by default to combat practice and flight simulation modes. The stasis room and its pods remains in normal, stable condition, but everywhere else on the station seems to have entered an emergency status: recreation rooms are locked down, environmentals need to cycle on in bedrooms once they've been opened for use, the cafeteria provides food in limited rations, lights are dimmed in the corridors, and temperatures have been lowered. Energy and other resources are being conserved, though in preparation for what? Fight or Flight — Planetside, the air seems heavy in both cities — literally. Temperatures across Olympia, Wyver, and Khalo all drop significantly, the atmosphere turned unnaturally cold and dense. There's a sense of foreboding that comes with the weather; animals seem especially spooked, quick to flee, as well as stampede and attack those that approach them. Refugees with more attuned senses (or the more twitchy sort) might feel similar effects, as well as a strange, persistent sense of dread. Olympia and Wyver — The cities both bunker down for the consequences of Rasyc's actions, though more pessimistic citizens can be heard wondering if these are preparations for war. Both leaders anticipate an attack, and attempt to keep order:
Following the announcements, guard efforts in both cities focus on preparing security and bolstering protections for the imminent attack. The overall mood is grim, for the destruction wrought by the ancient dragons is legendary — yet both cities settle to their efforts with a startling spark of hope amidst the frantic calls to arms, for the heroes who aided them against Raysc's treacherous kidnapping scheme months before have only grown in number. Both cities make their own preparations, but in tandem, determined not to let their fragile new peace be destroyed by Raysc's schemes. Weapon stockpiles are created, and stores of food and medical supplies prepared to ready for the battle ahead. Along with these efforts, they also ask for volunteers: sorcerers and mages with knowledge of unfamiliar spells, tinkerers and mechanics who might build great war machines, scientists and scholars to study biological options, thieves and rogues who might lay in clever traps — anyone who might provide some solution, no matter how strange or uncanny — or mundane. After all, the key to salvation may come from the most ordinary of citizens. Will you try to build a dragon-sized mouse trap? Will you try to cook the perfect (poisoned) dragon bait? Will you search Khalo's vast library for a clue from another world? What they need, the cities have decreed, are plans — and with plans, hope. Khalo Village — Khalo Village finds itself reconsidering whether or not Olympia and Wyver are truly ready for peace, and continued friendly efforts from the refugees will help assuage these concerns. The Khali people are not difficult to convince, as long as efforts are made — they know all too well what's at stake with high dragons. Khalo has ancient records available for study, which may just warn characters what they face on the horizon. Southern Outpost — The midway station at the South Outpost, established by refugee coalition efforts, serves as a staging ground for battle preparations and a waystation for those traveling between the two cities. Characters can expect to see this location play a major role in the next event and plan accordingly! Those stationed here will still need to contend with panicked fauna, but both Wyver and Olympian guards seem more concerned with the greater threat on the horizon than with each other — the atmosphere there is, surprisingly, that of solidarity. FINAL OOC NOTE
Please feel free to use this as a plotting post for the upcoming event post, scheduled for June 16th!

QUESTIONS.

- for those characters who are on thesa already, what's the transition into emergency mode like? does anything detectable trigger it, like on the radar, etc? and what day specifically does this happen on?
- is there further damage like the previous power-down caused or are we all groovy?
- is there a button to remain on red alert but without the loud noises?
THANK YOU you are the best.

- the khali were dragon tamers so theoretically might there be books on dragon taming to read?
- ianto will also be looking into what information he can find on ysverai the wise. i see the story of his sacrifice in the last event log. might there be more to find about him if one digs deeper in the library?
- also while he's here, might he be able to find anything on the shaman's rituals? he's heard what was left over from something, but do they need more ingredients (specific locations, pieces of the dragon...) to finish this process he wonders
that's it for now though i'm sure i will have more questions soon enough haha /STEEPLES FINGERS

Cain will definitely be putting his nose to the books in Khalos' library, particularly searching for any information on the ancient High Dragons and particularly effective combat strategies used against them, their weaknesses, or any sort of weapons or spells that were particularly favored for use in ancient battles against them. He'll also be looking for information (in the library and in whatever records he can access on Thesa Station) on how the light of Thesa in the myths turned the High Dragon's hide permeable to the weapons of humans. Is there anything to be found?

thanks, Sol, Venom will be going all in with his unique magic set. He's both a healer and has billiards magic, so if anyone plans on attacking from a distance, he's your man. If you've been injured, he's got you covered. He'll probably be looking through Khalo's library as well, seeing if he can look for any decent strategy that doesn't involve cooking the dragon
thanks, Jam.Heaven or hell, let's rock.
John Sheppard | Stargate: Atlantis
John turned up in Khalo toward the end of last month and he will still be there! There are a few people who were going to meet up with him, iirc, but I'm open to anyone else hanging out -- he knows a good amount about what is going on if you need an irreverent version of events. He's largely trying to find out any additional shaman/bandit info in the hopes of eventually getting 'oh, yes, and if they don't take the magic heart to the fancy secret place by the next full moon it is all RUINED no dragon appears'.
So far, no luck on that front. It's made slightly more difficult by the fact that he turned in a bandit he captured and got information out of, and now apparently local people know who he is. Oops?
I figure he'll probably go up to the station at least once or twice to make sure it isn't on fire and gently machine whisper it, but mostly he's trying to assuage personal guilt over being on the escort team that lost the heart by demonstrating terrible personal care and lunging into all possible danger.
Eventually he will probably backtrack out of Wyver toward at least the South Outpost and, unless something happens to draw him back, proooobably Olympia. We'll see! This is all open to change if anyone pitches him a better idea.

Axel | Kingdom Hearts
he's had enough of this worlds falling apart and Darkness and blah blah blah nonsense okay. that sense of foreboding? yeah it's an old friend, and he's not happy about it, either.
that being said, he's a trained recon expert, so he'll be lurking about wherever he thinks he can find some info about what might be actually going on. any likeminded stealthy types are welcome to approach and join on the tailing, if you like, just hit me up!
he's also a seasoned fire mage, so he'll probably be useful for damage control if the dragon does show up and, you know, set everything ablaze. so there's that. 8') he'll probably spend some time in Khalo reading about How to Defeat Your Dragon.

Urbosa is not at all stealthy, but she makes a convenient, blaringly obvious decoy to draw out and distract baddies if he wants to do his sneaky thing and stab em in the back. :V
Alternatively he's always welcome to talk over strategy with her if he needs a sounding board.

Cam Buckland | High Rollers --- Allura | Voltron
He is a powerful cleric, so he will have some tricky ideas (and spells) up his sleeves, which he's happy to talk about, but otherwise, he's more the type to be helping preparations, physically and mentally, than doing research and strategy meetings. If someone is scared and weaponless, he may give you a dagger to make you feel safer.
Allura has a lot less experience fighting on the ground, but with no giant lion-based mechas, she's going to have to make do. She will probably be trying to read up on the dragon/gather information, or doing a lot of training, whether that's on the Natha's VR simulator, or grabbing someone she knows can fight for some sparring.
Allura is also a lot more sensitive to energies, so she will likely be on edge.

Urbosa || Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Urbosa will be heading straight for the Southern Outpost to lend a hand however she can: coaching refugees on combat technique, manual labour (if needed), and otherwise getting settled in.
She's an experienced campaigner and can whip up defensive and offensive options with anyone that's dropping by Khalo to study all those fancy books. Come at me, bros. >:V
Mai | ATLA
She'll have looked around Khalo Village before now and will likely stop off there again to help with any research needed.
Also Mai works at and is part of the Knightryders Order, the Fields of the Exalted as well as low key with The Gilded Cage.

Ianto Jones | Torchwood
You will probably find him in the library there doing research, in the baths trying to calm the hell down, and just about everywhere in between in the village as he tries to find something that might help in the grand scheme of things. He’s definitely not leaving the village again until he has to because he definitely doesn’t want to have to come back in again unless he has to, though ofc those plans might change depending on how the plot unravels...

i'm not saying he's here to punch a dragon with a giant robot, but he's really here to punch a dragon with a giant robot if need be. if you wanna hitch a ride or are magical and tanky and want to get thrown at a giant winged menace at high speeds, he's your boy.
otherwise he has a pretty decent food/cash stash and good rapport with wyver and the gilded cage to take advantage of.

In the meantime, he'll be working in The Forge, if anyone needs a good sword. And otherwise he'll be around.
jim kirk is mostly in spaaaace
jim has spent a lot of time on thesa station in between the last plot post and this one, doing some investigation work. he's got a pretty good handle on why things went they way they did up there, and is happy to talk about them to anybody who's up on thesa as well!
stuff i'd love to do:
and other stuff. i'm up for anything, new and old cr alike /o/
i'm not sure what his involvement could be with actual potential dragon-slaying, as he doesn't have a ton of overlapping experience, and his dumb starfleet morals make him slightly uncomfortable with the idea of planning to murder a sentient creature that might just be being used by somebody's jerk son. that said, if anyone wants to talk about the books in khalo, or if there's going to be a group specifically looking for rasyc, he'd be happy to jump in there should the opportunity arise.

Phoenix Wright | Ace Attorney
Being one of the members of the coalition he is going to try his best to help in aiding in calming worried or overly riled citizens. He doesn't have any powers nor does he have any fighting experience but he will make up for that as much as he can with his diplomatic skills.
He will also be one of those who goes up to Thessa during some of this. His reasoning? Well, besides his usual habit of visiting his loved ones, he will be caught in the VR chambers getting his butt handed to him in the fighting simulators. Secretly stowing away in hopes to get a little better with the staff he was given some time ago. So if you wish to help him in rallying defensive citizens with the non-violent approach or in helping the poor guy finally learn to defend himself, hit me up!

Genjo Sanzo | Saiyuki
He will not be doing much outside of Wyver, preferring to stay out of trouble as much as he can. But he will absolutely be noticing the difference in the air as well the hostility of the surrounding wildlife. He has a habit of wandering along Wyvers boarders so should anyone happen to land themselves into some trouble he will be more than happy to use both sword and gun to get anyone out of trouble who may need it.
He will also be making his first trip to Khalo upon hearing of their past knowledge of dragons. He had been researching the lore and history of Wyvers relations thanks to his work as a Shaman but he will most certainly be interested in learning as much as he can about their history and Khalo's perspective on the matter.
