This is a plotting post to get to know your groups and plot with other players! The info post for March's kidnapping plot may be found HERE. Although threads while in captivity and during the rescues are limited to characters within their own groups, there will be opportunities to thread with other characters, as well!

As far as abductions go, extremists will approach characters in a number of ways: asking for their help, surprise ambushes, etc. For the most part, these attempts will not be out in the open, but it's flexible otherwise. Characters can come up with their own scenarios and plan outside of their groups for kidnapping threads! In the end, they will be knocked out and taken away, with more details to come later. Hostage characters will be tricked or forced to wear a magical object that completely nerfs their powers, and this object cannot be removed.

All characters, including those who did not sign up for a plot role, may still participate in other ways. They may, for example, be witnesses to and fail to prevent another's kidnapping, spread the word around town about the incidents, and provide medical and emotional support to both hostages and rescuers. Everyone will need a bit of cheering up!

We have provided headers for each group for your convenience, but these are not exclusive to only members of that group. You may also make your own toplevel if you prefer.

LOCATION GUESSES

Feel free to keep posting toplevels under this, but this is a header so we know how everyone is guessing! Here is the info again for quick reference:

Investigations point to three locations where the hostages may have been taken: the ROYAL GUARD ACADEMY, the PALACE COURTYARD, and SHADES DARKER.

1. Many think it's odd that Ashti is cooperating with civilians on a case that should be handled solely by the authorities. While Ashti remains tight lipped about this in public, rumour has it that Ashti is worried about potential traitors among the Royal Guard.
2. Given the recent unrest in the city, the Royal Guard is working hard to recruit and groom new cadets to help fill in the gaps. The Palace fire however, has forced the Royal Guard to repurpose an old school to train their cadets while the courtyard is restored.
3. Still, the cadets seem to spend more time patrolling around Shades Darker than at the school itself. It's unclear why they've been stationed there however, as they don't appear to do much other than chatting with the employees.
4. One of the Royal Guard's groundskeepers is overheard complaining that he'd been fired for being a mole before the relocation, but he still keeps in touch with the cadets that patrol the Entertainment District.
5. The Guard does not seem to be doing much to follow through with their initiative to train the new cadets. The old bell at the Academy rings at odd times, but no one has bothered to fix it.

Farah definitely doesn't think it's Shades Darker; reads like a red herring to her, honestly, and this seems a little too neatly coordinated for that kind of thing.

Her guess is actually the courtyard, as it would be relatively abandoned at this stage and time.

I forgot to paste It's become evident after the attacks on the Palace that the radicals are hoping to weaken the Empress by striking at what is closest to her. Whoops... I was excited...

Because Dorian's most familiar with the courtyard, he's going to be leaning towards it. That's also my vote in light of the addition I just made... my b...

Venom's going to suggest the Academy as the area to investigate. He's most familiar with Shades Darker, and he wonders why they'd beef up security with cadets. He'll want to investigate all three areas because he's a thorough assassin rescuer, but his money's on the Academy.

Jon would say the Academy, believing Shades Darker is (as someone mentioned before) a red herring. It would make sense the rogue guard would keep the hostages right under their noses.

Cheryl also thinks Shades Darker is Too Obvious and therefore not the location, but is torn between the Academy and the Courtyard. She is leaning towards the courtyard because having it under repair seems like a good excuse to hide hostages without drawing attention, but she is open to people convincing her of a different option.

Valjean's suspicions point to the Royal Guard Academy. Being that training new cadets seems to have been put on hold, what is the building being used for? Furthermore, the seemingly misplaced toll of the bells could be a signal of some sort for those behind the kidnappings, especially if Ashti is correct in her worries about potential traitors among the guard.
