( may outline and plot sign-ups )
Thanks to everyone who participated in the Coalition of Refugees voting! While there were two leaders, in general we intend to incorporate other proposals with enough interest and feasibility as best we can. Please note that not every idea can be accomplished to the fullest (e.g. Wyver and Olympia would not set up a third city), or all at once, but we'll take aspects that work and incorporate them as we go!
The coalition itself is intended to be a permanent fixture in the game, which will act as the highly requested Diplomatic Council. To sign up as an official member of the Diplomatic Council, please comment here with your character's name on the subject line. Also, a minor note: while it is listed under the Olympian Business page, it is still officially neutral territory. It is only there because it is technically land granted by Olympia. A Neutral Area will also be established, as detailed further below. This small outpost is predominantly for meetings, gatherings, and diplomatic relations as a peacekeeping effort, coinciding also with ideas raised on a collaborative guard effort and safer, open travel between the two cities. MAY OUTLINE
Week One —
Life is returning to the city of Olympia after months of political turmoil. April showers have come and gone, and With warmer weathers on the horizon, Olympian spirit is at an all time high. For the first time in recent history, Flona Cove is open for both Olympia and Wyver residents. In honor of the peace talks, Flona Cove will be hosting celebratory bonfires on the beach every night of the week. During the day, vendor stalls line the boardwalk, selling wares such as concoctions that allow you to temporarily breathe underwater, snow cones that turn your skin the same color as the syrup for a time, and a refreshing mint cocktail that grants you the appearance of someone else in the vicinity. It's all in good fun! If you desire a little more action, the underground Fight Club (which will take a bit of searching around to find), is proving more lucrative than ever before, with increased crowds that want to see friendly competition between Olympians and Wyverns. In Wyver, the shift from winter to spring is sudden, but welcome. In actuality, it feels a lot like summer. Some may find the hot and humid weather of Wyver oppressive, but the people welcome it with open arms, and for the most part, that sentiment extends to the promise of peace and open borders. Most of Wyver's citizens have never had the privilege of visiting Flona Cove, so during the first week of May, the city will be something of a ghost town, with many of its residents excited to spend time in the famous resort town. There are many who doubt this temporary peace will last, but they may as well reap the benefits while it is in effect. In Council news, the South Outpost has been officially named as neutral territory belonging to the Coalition. There is not sufficient infrastructure to feasibly live here, but envoys may host events and gatherings in this area as they please. Week Two — A major point of tension between the two factions has always been their prized missing artifacts, namely the Heart of the great dragon Ysverai and the Skull of the Hero Nithor. These artifacts have been secretly kept hostage by Olympia and Wyver, respectively. Tentatively, Olympia has finally set up the Heart of Ysverai up for public display. There is a high security presence of the Royal Guard, of course, and many tourists from Wyver have taken a keen interest in it, for obvious reasons. Similarly, Nithor's skull is available for private viewing upon request. Anyone wishing to view the skull has to be vetted by security beforehand, but those involved in or knowing someone involved in the refugee council talks will have no problems gaining access. As a gesture of goodwill, any Olympian may enter, as well. There are plans for the two cities to trade these artifacts, as each has deep cultural significance to its faction of origin. Such a trade would strengthen the trust between Wyver and Olympia. Week Three — Some may remember Khalo Village as forbidden, impossible to reach territory. Ordinarily, attempting to approach this village will cause the individual to fall into a slumber. After receiving news of open borders between Wyver and Olympia, the people of Khalo Village have decided to allow outsiders into their territory for the first time in hundreds of years. They see this as an opportunity to stimulate their economy, and welcome the envoys with open arms — it seems they the Khalo residents have taken an interest in them, if not outright liking. There is only one way to overcome the powerful sleeping spell over the village, however, and that is to smoke the local herb known as fyrra. The Khalo Location page will be released OOCly at a later date this month. Week Four — Event. The trade between the two factions proceeds: Nithor's skull for Ysverai's heart. A joint task force, as proposed by the mini council, will consist of members of both the Knightryders and the Royal Guard, will be in charge of security for this important diplomatic task. En route to delivering the artifacts, the task force will be attacked by bandits, and ultimately, the heart will be stolen. PCs will be able to capture and interact with some of the assailants. Because both traveling groups were attacked, no foul play between the factions is suspected. Week Five — The search for the leader of this bandits, as well as the call to bring him or her to justice, is on. Citizens from both factions are encouraged to come forward with any information they have on the perpetrators. There are rumors that the leader may have escaped to Khalo Village. This makes many of Khalo Village's people very nervous, and some believe opening their territory to outsiders was a mistake. It is vital that the leader be caught and apprehended immediately to sustain the invitation to the village. NPC TASKS
Tasks are mini-quests that require no sign-ups or turn-ins; the are simply assignments made by known NPCs if your character needs incentive in order to engage in the setting.
MAY 18th EVENT SIGN-UPS
For this month's plot, members of the Knightryders and Royal Guard will be able to volunteer to guard the delivery of Ysverai's heart to Wyver and Nithor's skull to Olympia. Due to the importance of each artifact to their respective cities, leaders will employ members of the Diplomatic Council to aid in the trade. While both convoys will be attacked, Nithor's skull will be delivered to Olympia successfully; however, those in charge of Ysverai's heart will be met with an obstacle.
Just before entering the South Outpost, the convoy heading toward Wyver will also be attacked; one bandit will skillfully make away with the heart while others will continue the onslaught. Players will be able to sign up to be involved in these envoy missions. Characters not in the Knightryders or Royal Guard may participate so long as they are a member of the Diplomatic Council. There will be two transport missions that players may be able to chose from: On the morning of the 20th, members of both the Ryders and Guard will be responsible for delivering the the prized artifact to Olympia. Their route is relatively straight-forward: stay on the path toward the east tower to ensure that the convoy remains well-supplied for the journey. Shortly after departing the watchtower, the convoy will be attacked by bandits. It will be up to the envoy to fend them off as well as capture them in order to turn in to the authorities.B. ▶ DELIVERING YSVERAI'S HEART FROM OLYMPIA TO WYVER. At the same time, another convoy will be en route to Wyver. Similarly, they will meet with other group at the checkpoint at the east watchtower just outside of Olympia. Before hitting their second checkpoint at the South Outpost, however, they will be attacked by a similar group of bandits. It will seem like the leader is among this group of attackers, and while their minions will be able to act as decoys, the leader will escape with the heart. PCs will still have the opportunity to capture the assailants even though they were not selected to thread the interrogation; you are free to make up your NPCs with the same basic guideline: they will not reveal their motive or their organization. You may turn them in to authorities (Wyver or Olympia or otherwise) or find creative ways to get rid of them. Sign-ups will close on May 12th at 11:59pm. Those opting-in for an NPC thread will know if their character is selected by the 15th. Turn-ins for this mission will close on June 8th at 11:59pm. If you are interested, please fill out the following form and post it under this thread. Thank you! CHARACTER NAME: FINAL OOC NOTE
