TAKEN! ANY LIAM NEESONS IN THE HOUSE?
This month's event, which will go live on March 18th, involves characters (both PCs and NPCs) being kidnapped by extremist groups for leverage against the factions.
The anti-Simwe faction in Olympia will abduct people that appear "important" in some form or fashion and attempt to use the hostages to pressure Simwe into stepping down. Fearing what a coup in Olympia might mean for Wyver, the radical Shaman group will try the same gambit in the belief that they can force Shanrian to step down, take power for themselves, and lead Wyver to victory against Olympia.
With the help of the authorities figures of each city, PCs must work together in order to rescue their loved ones and innocent citizens. If groups of characters are successful in locating the victims, the cities will commend them for their heroic deeds in a special ceremony, possibly earning them rewards and/or further influence on their city governments.
In order to ensure that we can provide each group with an engaging experience, we ask that if you are interested in participating in this plot as either a kidnapped character or a rescuer, you sign up below. This will give us a better idea of how to evenly distribute information to all involved characters.
This event is time-sensitive by nature, as the outcome of it will determine the general atmosphere in both factions for the last week of the month. As such, the OOC timeline for the event is as follows:
To reiterate: all characters interested in being directly involved in this plot should sign up; kidnapped characters will be determined from the pool of signups by RNG. The remaining characters will form the rescue groups. In the interest of both fairness and keeping things streamlined, we ask that you only sign up one character per player. If you are interested in signing up, please fill out the form in the sign-up comment here.
Signups will close on March 14th at 11:59 PM EST.
Characters who do not sign up for the event will also still have the opportunity to carry out tasks from the monthly outline for March. The submission of a thread where this task is completed in one of your own logs will also have an impact on the outline for the rest of the month. These should also be submitted here by March 24th, 11:59 PM EST.
And finally, a reminder: Any quests that have yet to be updated due to unforeseen mod circumstances, such as Blinded by Science, and To Kill a Mocking Bird will now have the deadline of April 5th. Any quest that has been updated prior to this announcement are still due on March 19th. Moving forward, the quest board will permanently be updated after character intros.

▻ March 14th, 11:59 PM EST: Sign ups for the event will close to allow us time to RNG the hostages and form rescue groups. Participants will be contacted with the role their character will be playing as soon as it's determined (March 16th at the very latest). Please note that this event will be primarily player driven. As mods, we will be here to give you your initial information, answer clarifying questions, and confirm whether or not you have picked the correct location. The specifics of how this all plays out will be entirely up to you. As such, we highly encourage submitting your location guesses as soon as possible, preferably before the event log goes live to give you the maximum amount of time to play on the log. Those assigned to a Rescuer role will also receive hints about where the victims have been taken. ICly, these clues will be obtained by their own detective work, or shared by cooperating members of the Royal Guard or the Knightryders. OOCly, when your group has decided which location to investigate, let us know what you pick; we will respond with whether you have discovered the correct location or not.▻ March 18th: An event log will go up. In this log, we will post toplevels for each of the hostage groups to play out their interrogations and for each of the rescue groups to play out their rescues. Although you will need to have signed up to take part in the hostage and rescue threads, you do not need to have signed up to post your own toplevels in this log. Characters who have not signed up will be able to play peripheral roles as well.
Those assigned to a Hostage role will receive information about what their characters will see when they wake up and how their captors are treating and interrogating them so that they may plot out the extent to which they want their characters to be affected.
▻ March 24th, 11:59 PM EST: We ask that players submit a brief summary of their rescue/attempted rescue threads (a projected outcome is fine if it is still ongoing) by this date so that we can incorporate any pertinent details such as casualties, whether perpetrators were caught or escaped, etc. into the outline for next month.
