( october 2017 plot pt. 2: setting update and plotting post )

October's plot progression will be posted in THREE parts. Only the last part will be a formal event log, so players are free to take the information provided in these plot write-ups and plan their own threads. Part 2 is meant to provide a setting update, outlining ways in which characters' choices in Part 1 have affected the metaplot and providing new areas to explore. This is also a recap of events so far.

WORKING TOWARDS A CURE

  • The progression of the disease and the lack of finding a cure aren't the only things plaguing Olympia. Characters will notice that finding food becomes more and more problematic. Because characters were heavily focused on catching the culprits of the crime and eavesdropping for useful information, the Olympian food vendors did not have enough help to salvage their untainted goods in time. Priority will go towards feeding those inflicted with VIOLET2710. As for everyone else... make do with what little you have around. Food vendors have stopped selling their goods, preferring to keep them to feed their families.

  • Thanks to the efforts of Qrow, Terra, and Jeanne Alter, the Shady Man and two of his closest confidants have been brought down. Useful information was extracted from them in three separate posts. You are free to assume that your character knows this information. The information about the Yuwi Flower and the Oshai Leaf was known previously only to the faction leaders, who did not disclose this information, in fear that their people might do something reckless and infiltrate enemy land without a proper plan.

  • Characters have found out that Wyver was hit with the same attack of VIOLET2710, just two days prior to the Olympia Attack. King Shanrian, the leader of the Wyver nation, contacted Empress Simwe with a plea for a temporary truce in the interest of obtaining information about the attackers and the Yuwi flower. Wyver intelligence was able to determine that the attack was not Olympia, but an outside force, and that something may happen in Olympia soon. Simwe initially ignored the request. When the bomb went off in the Olympian Market District, she immediately disappeared to establish contact with the Wyver leaders. Initially stubborn and uncaring about the attack on Wyver, the attack on her own home has her willing to try and find a way to work together.

  • The city of Olympia is extremely grateful for those who have dedicated their efforts towards researching a cure and taking care of sick patients. In appreciation of their hard work, Lysa will be awarding characters who signed up for Choice 3 in Part 1 a small magical trinket. Characters will receive a golden ring with a small gemstone of their choice. Gently touching someone in distress or pain while wearing this ring will help calm them down, filling them with feelings of peace.

  • Phase 2 of VIOLET2710 is still in effect. Phase 3 will be released tomorrow.
THE EVACUATION
  • On the morning of the 19th, characters in Olympia will be rounded up from their homes. There is now a mandatory evacuation in effect. Asking questions about their destination will net a straightforward answer: they are headed to Wyver. Although historically both factions are bitter enemies, both leaders have realized that the situation may only worsen, and have agreed to temporarily work together. Refusing to vacate Olympia will result in being evacuated by force, as the city will soon be sterilized with dangerous chemicals in order to make it hospitable again.

  • Your character is invited to spectate on a final meeting to discuss an Olympia/Wyver truce. In this meeting, Empress Simwe and King Shanrian were able to come to an agreement. Because more characters partook in Choice 1 as opposed to Choice 2, Empress Simwe was able to use the large number of alive captive prisoners as bargaining chips. King Shanrian has agreed to feed and house the Olympian people in exchange for the prisoners.

  • The evacuation to Wyver is fairly smooth, all things considered. Transportation on horseback and carriages is provided for those in good health. Infected persons will be transported through the sky via gryphons. Immediately upon arrival, captured fugitives will find an opening to escape from Olympian clutches. In the commotion, guards are likely to not notice that a prisoner has escaped and slipped into the Wyver jungle.

  • Welcome to Wyver. There are many new areas to explore, as well as lore you may want to familiarize yourself with.

Please note that if characters try to interact with dragons (for example, pet or ride them), dragons are hostile to people they are unfamiliar with. These creatures have never been truly tamed, and are fiercely loyal only to their owners.

  • Characters who took part in Choice 1 or Choice 2 may have discovered some leads that will prove to be useful in finding a secret location hidden within Wyver. Fugitives may also find themselves here, seemingly by chance, but truthfully, nothing ever happens by coincidence.

  • You are expected to earn your keep within the city of Wyver. Those with scientific or medical expertise are expected to work with shamans in taking care of sick patients, both those from Olympia and Wyver, and work together to figure out a cure. There is also a need for people for farm, hunt, and gather food from the jungle. Local businesses would also appreciate being lent a hand.

Feel free to use this post for plotting!
