❪ activity check ❫ AUGUST 2017

Welcome to El Nysa's very first (formal) Activity Check!

As a reminder, please always track the activity check tag on the community. AC will always be on the 27th of a given month, and lasts for four (4) days, ending on 11:59pm on the 30th.

AC would be two (2) proofs of any of the following:
  • A log thread with at least five (5) comments coming from your character.
  • A network thread with at least ten (10) comments coming from your character.
All proofs must include threads with separate characters (example: If you used a thread with Character A for your first proof, you may not use a thread with the same character for your second proof).

If you cannot make AC in a given month, players are allowed to take a strike. Players are allowed one strike before they must make full AC or be removed from the game.

Players are only allowed to use a hiatus exemption from AC once every three months, but they are allowed to hiatus as often as they see fit. If a player has extenuating circumstances and needs to hiatus for longer than a month, feel free to contact a mod.

Before we get to the form, please adhere to the following guidelines for AC:
  • August's eligible AC period is from July 15th to August 30th.
  • REP threads may be used for AC, but AC cannot be used for ACP.
  • You cannot use TDM threads for AC, but current players may use it for ACP.
  • If you take a strike, you cannot submit to ACP.
  • You're only allowed one AC strike without question. You're expected to make full AC next time.
  • Multiple-part tags count as one (1) tag comment.
  • Inbox threads count as AC, but they are automatically considered network posts, regardless if it's transitioned to action.
  • For future reference: you are welcome to use threads that started during August AC, but only the comments that are timestamped within September are eligible to be counted toward September's AC.
  • You are exempt from AC if you were hiatused for at least two weeks in a given month.
  • IF YOU DO NOT RESPOND TO AC, YOU WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE GAME. We do not issue warnings.
  • Each subthread must be AC length to be accepted; combining threads is not permitted. Please link to specific subthreads, rather than top levels. This applies to both network and log threads.
  • In the event of an overflow, continuations in your personal journal count as whichever type of game tag they originated as, e.g. a log overflow in your journal = a log thread.
If you are confused about where and which tags to submit, please consult this visual aid before asking a mod!

Without further ado, please fill out the following form to submit your proofs of activity.

After submitting AC, feel free to head over to the ACP/REP page to submit your activity points!

Hi, I'm not totally sure I understand how you're counting, but I believe that thread (disregarding the shorter of the two branches where it splits due to the threadjacking) has now reached 10 comments. If you're calculating it a different way, I can provide another link. Thanks!

Thank you! I really appreciate it, and will definitely be careful about this in the future.

Just to be clear so that I don't make the same mistake next time, the way I'm looking at it, the comment poolhall_killer - 2017-08-10 09:23 pm (EST) is the last comment before it branches, and from there it splits into the two comment branch beginning with barreling - 2017-08-11 11:42 pm (local) and a nineteen comment branch beginning with xxxxx - 2017-08-12 01:20 am (local). When you're tallying up comments for AC, do you count the comments before the split + the longest (or shortest?) of the branches? Or are you looking at this like essentially three separate threads, so I'd need 10 comments either (i) altogether before the split, (ii) altogether in branch one after the split, or (iii) altogether in branch two after the split?

I realize I'm not making this any less confusing! and I'm sorry about that, I just really enjoy threadjacking in network posts and want to make sure I've got my head wrapped around how it works here so I don't accidentally hurt my AC chances or anybody else's by jumping around too much.

That makes sense! I think that was part of my confusion, because it all felt like one continuous conversation that a third character joined briefly as opposed to the two distinct threads you often see in thread-jacking, which I'd imagined were what you were trying to rule out.

I really appreciate you taking the time to consider and to explain, and also for your willingness to be flexible with things that fall within the spirit--if not quite the letter--of the rule. Dealing with AC for this many characters is a lot of work, and I'll do my best not to make it any harder in the future!
